Halifax-based Boundless Discovery has raised a US$2 million (C$2.8 million) seed round to develop an artificial intelligence-powered platform that maps and analyzes critical markets.
The company, founded in late 2024, issued a recent press release saying the financing came from venture capital funds in the United States and United Kingdom, family offices, and executives in the technology, energy and financial sectors. It did not disclose the names of the investors.
Boundless Discovery combines open-source intelligence, artificial intelligence and analysis to create models of markets that track assets, companies and other actors, as well as flows and dependencies across entire value chains. It says the platform will create “the world’s most comprehensive living, atomic models of critical markets.”
The company has spent the past year developing its AI system while working with hedge funds, private equity firms and forensic investigators, according to the company.
Boundless Discovery is now launching what it calls its Core Market coverage, which provides maps and analysis of entire value chains. Nuclear energy is the first sector covered by the platform.
“We're very proud of the group of investors who have decided to back us,” CEO Peter Gale said in the statement. “Now it's time to prove they made the right choice.”
The company said its approach is designed to provide detailed information about the microeconomic components of markets while analyzing them at a broader scale.
Boundless Discovery describes its technology as combining open-source intelligence with AI and human analysis. The company’s first nuclear-energy analysis is available publicly as a free deep dive.
In January 2025, Boundless Discovery said it had partnered with American technology company Palantir Technologies to develop its flagship product on Palantir’s platform.
